Hope House Residential Treatment Program is an eighty-bed, recovery home for male alcoholics and substance abusers located in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood. The Hope House program, which has become a national model, embodies a structured approach to substance abuse treatment, which is grounded in evidenced based practices to include Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Seeking Safety©, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and coordinates with agencies providing Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
The program takes place in a community residential setting where treatment needs are identified and addressed. The Hope House Residential Treatment Program provides a clean, safe setting for clients to thrive including, nutritious meals and an empathetic professional staff. The comprehensive Hope House Residential Treatment Program generally lasts six months and is supplemented and enhanced by affiliations with a variety of community resources that provided additional resources to clients.
Hope House Residential Treatment Program consists of two main phases and an aftercare component:
The 21 day program – clients remain close to the program meeting with their Primary Counselor several times per week to develop a plan for the remained of their treatment. Clients will attend several groups per day during the 21 day program to assist with identifying long term treatment needs and goals.
The work program – upon completion of the 21 day program clients will begin job search. Employment provides structure, financial resources, and has been demonstrated to improve treatment outcomes. During the work program clients will begin to work on the identified needs and goals from the 21 day program. Clients will develop community resources and supports that will assist with achieving and maintaining recovery.
Aftercare Group – upon completion of the Hope House Residential Treatment Program clients have access to a weekly Aftercare Group. This group provides peer support around the transition from treatment to more independent living situations, assists to identify roadblocks in the process, identify available community resources, and maintains a connection to the Hope House Treatment Program in the weeks following completion of the program.
